Cocoon Series

The Cocoon Series is an ongoing body of sculptural work exploring mental health and identity through multimedia fiber based sculpture. Across the series, golden creatures and forms act as self-portraits, representing an enduring core self that persists beneath anxiety, depression, burnout, and societal expectation. The use of fiber becomes physical manifestations of emotional states, with color and texture reflecting experiences of trauma, healing, vulnerability, and growth. Drawing from the metamorphosis of caterpillars within the chrysalis, the work centers on the tension of authenticity vs camouflaging and seclusion, examining how periods of emotional unraveling can ultimately lead to deconstruction of societal masks and personal transformation.
